Rudimentary rock ‘n’ roll, vintage rhythm & blues and cool rock: that’s The Black Keys in a nutshell. Singer/guitarist Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney are often compared to The White Stripes, but their music also contains echoes of old black blues in the tradition of Howlin’ Wolf and John Lee Hooker. Attack & Release is The Black Keys’ fifth studio album and the first to be recorded in a real studio instead of a basement. Dangermouse (Gnarls Barkley) produced the album while Marc Ribot played the guitar. Robert Plant, Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood are already fans, and if you weren’t already, discover them at this gig!
Did you know? If you have ever played Grand Theft Auto IV, you have probably already heard their music: their song Strange Times is featured on the game’s soundtrack.
