Cruise liners, man-made luxury islands, all-inclusive holidays… Contemporary utopias which help us escape reality with an excess of relaxation and pleasure. This escapism also typifies the online virtual worlds in which we trade our real identity for a better version of ourselves. While the former is aimed at a riper audience, virtual reality mainly appeals to young people. Andros Zins-Browne combines both target groups in his performance Second Life, which features young actors as well as actors between the ages of 60 and 80, found in exercise workshops for the aged in Vooruit and elsewhere. Zins-Browne was one of the most promising PARTS students of his year. During his studies he made five short performances showing his social and political awareness.
