Shaman (B/GL/IS)
Robert Peary is an Inuit from Greenland who until recently lived in Thule, which is situated 1,000 kilometres above the arctic circle. In Shaman, Peary tells the story of the Inuit. He’s assisted by Mads Lumholt, a vocal performer, who evokes the atmosphere of Greenland, ranging from howling dogs to cracking ice, with his voice. Together with Petur Gretarsson, a brilliant Icelandic percussionist, and the multi-instrumentalist Geert Waegeman they build a terrific sound scape.

Olga Chonka
The concert by Olga Chonka has been cancelled. Olga has become seriously ill. King Island Drum Dancers won’t be able to make it to Ghent either. Olga will be replaced by Nunavik Throat Singers (who will also be performing with Think of One later on in the evening). King Island Drum Dancers will be replaced by Pamyua.

Pamyua
Pamyua will perform a traditional Yup’ik set (one of the traditional Inuit cultures in Alaska), a fascinating performance which combines Inuit drumming, vocals and dance. Pamyua’s songs are about nature, and more specifically, about birds. The choreography will express the meaning of the songs. Pamyua recently received the Native American Music Award.
