Parallel Paradises
Manuel Saiz, ES, 2006, betaSP, 5’
A forest in autumn, two Japanese girls with flowers in their hair and a synchronized parapara perfomance, Japan’s latest disco trend. A short film on worlds that appear together but never seem to even barely touch.

Magnetic Movie
Semiconductor, UK, 2007, betaSP, 5’, in competition
The mystery of invisible interplanetary magnetic fields unraveled. The NASA Space Sciences Laboratories are the setting; recordings of space scientists, describing their visualisation techniques, are the inciting soundtrack.

Stil Leven/ Still Life
Isabelle Tollenaere, BE, 2007, digibeta, 17’00, in competition
The girl looks upon her mounted kitten as one of her toys. The boy takes his collection of mounted canaries deadly serious. Both a documentary and a fantasy on a pet’s afterlife.

All through the Night
Michael Robinson, US, 2007, miniDV, 6’, in competition
A vision, blending heavily manipulated material from a Soviet version of The Snow Queen and the 2004 blockbuster The Day After Tomorrow.

Plot Point
Nicolas Provost, BE, 2007, betaSP, 15’, in competition
What happens to places that are often the setting for fictitious events? Does reality still have its place in them? For instance a popular film location like Times Square. Provost registrates its daily reality with a hidden camera and re-edits it into an exciting thriller.
