Simone White (US) grew up in a family of Hawaiian artists. Her mother was a bellydancer/folk singer and her father was an artist. After living in Seattle, London, and New York, she finally settled in sunny Venice (California). Her folky pop songs combine a dreamy haze, bitter melancholy and political statements. Her music hasn’t been picked by the mainstream yet, but you might know her from the Audi commercial featuring her Beep Beep Song.

Peter Von Poehl (SE) makes acoustic folk and dreamy pop. Just like Simone White, he has been travelling all his life: the son of German-Swedish parents, he travelled through France and gained fame as Bertrand Burgalat’s sidekick. When he returned to Germany, he started working on his solo career, and in 2002 he released his debut album, Going to Where the Tea-Trees Are. His fragile track The Story of Impossible was used in a Mobistar ad. Last year he stepped into the spotlight when he supported French synthpop band Air on tour. Here at Vooruit he will perform in a trio.

“Going Where the Tea-Trees Are is an incredibly charming album” (damusic.be)
