Under the cheerful motto ‘What would Jesus buy?’ American activist and anti-globalist Reverend Billy went on a mission to save Christmas from consumerism. With his 30-strong Church of Stop Shopping Gospel choir, he valiantly spread his message in crowded shops. Director Rob Van Alkemade followed the happy bunch on their journey through the U.S., resulting in docu-comedy ‘What would Jesus buy?’. Morgan Spurlock, of tasty documentary ‘Super Size Me’ fame, acted as the producer. In America, critics had the following praise in store for Reverend Billy: “Fast and Funny” (The New York Times), “The new film is Reverend Billy’s tour de farce—a ferociously satirical and cynical take on consumer culture.” (Newsweek).
Reverend Billy is absolutely everywhere at the game is up! He will give perform his Sermon live on stage and tell us all about his work in a FrictiesSalon.
