No one in Belgium plays rock quite like Triggerfinger does. With their knees bent, their amps on 11, and their fingers on the trigger, they shoot rock-hard songs straight at their live audience. Therefore it’s not surprising that they established a solid live reputation long before they released their first album, Triggerfinger (2004), which, according to Dutch music magazine OOR, gave “the genre a refreshing boost”. Their dirty roots rock blends older icons such as Led Zep with QOTSA’s stoner rock and the Paladins’ blues on adrenaline. According to musician and rock lover Frank van der Linden, Triggerfinger personifies “drum ‘n’ bass in the purest sense of the term”.
In 2007, they released the live album Faders, but 2008 sees them return with the real deal. Produced by, together with and under the supervision of Jo Francken and mastered stateside by Fred Kevorkian, their testosterone-fuelled new album, What Grabs Ya?, will be released on the 25th of February. You can listen to the first single here.
With: Ruben Block (Sin Alley, Angelico), lead singer and guitarist, Mario Goossens (Hooverphonic, Noordkaap and Monza) on drums and Paul van Bruystegem on bass.
This performance is in the 5 For Students March Top 5
