Cocky, self-conscious, witty and self-made young women are taking over the music business. Kate Nash now joins fellow Londoners Lily Allen and Amy Winehouse. When Nash broke her foot about two years ago, she was forced to take it easy. To fight the boredom, her parents decided to buy her a guitar. Soon she started uploading songs on her MySpace, rapidly gaining popularity. By now, her foot has healed and she has just released her debut album, Made of Bricks.
Her debut showcases her songwriting skills, drawing inspiration from her personal experiences – bad boyfriends beware! The catchy pop tune Foundations is one of the hits of the year.
Nash is also a revelation live, which she proved at Pukkelpop 2007 and in the Botanique a few weeks back, which sold out months before. If you haven’t seen Kate Nash live, this is your chance! She’ll be playing at the Vooruit on Tuesday the 1st of April.
