Thou is back, but in a whole new way. The Ghent-based band has chosen not to make a traditional comeback, but to walk new, unbeaten tracks. Thou will not be releasing a new record, but will regularly bring out three new songs. By 2008, this should result in an eclectic mix of 12 songs. The quartet emphasizes that this is not an album, but a collection of EPs that form a coherent whole.
After four conventional albums (including the highly successful I like girls in Russia), Thou felt a great need to experiment and explore new horizons. Does de Wolf and her crew wanted to colour outside the lines of a conventional studio album. The new songs exude this regained freedom; just listen to Cold Cold Heart. A fresh way of working which we can only applaud.
Support act I love Sarah, an energetic duo on drums, guitars and keys, takes a fresh approach to music, making clattering and funny rock. They released their debut album Hoekzetel Bruno on pink vinyl only. Great songs following in the footsteps of Evil Superstars, sad De Morgen, awarding the album 4 stars.
