Using an old-fashioned medium to record contemporary impressions: that’s exactly what German photographer and performance artist Volker Gerling does. When he meets special people on the road, he photographs them and later bundles them in a flip book or Daumenkino. He will bring along a number of these self-made Daumenkinos to Almost Cinema 07. Gerling has a story for every funny, moving or surprising image. A late-night film and tale by a born storyteller.
