Staying in tune with the Film Festival’s Argentinean theme, this year’s Café Dansants will kick off with an irresistible tango edition. Quinteto Astor will be warming up the dance floor, DJ Koen D’Hous will be providing the beats and Pol Van Assche will be teaching tango moves, especially for those who take their tango seriously. The dance floor will be cleared for tanguistas the whole afternoon. The tango dansant is free, but people who would like to take part in the intensive introductory tango lesson in the Balzaal at 1 pm, are advised to sign up.
Quinteto Astor plays a broad repertoire of old and new tango and new compositions. They are specialised in the work of masters such as Astor Piazzola and Horacio Salgán. The quintet strives for authenticity, but is not scared to rid the old school tango of its dust.
