In their theatrical bonfire, De Roovers depict love in all its guises, from a the light-heartedness of falling in love to the complexity of melancholy. In Georges Feydau’s ‘Le Dindon’, they show us characters that long for the impossible and unattainable.
In the late 19th century, the French writer Feydeau (1862-1921) chose comedy to deal with love. He was the master of French farce. ‘Le Dindon’ premièred in 1896 at the Palais Royal in Paris. It was one of Feydeau’s first comedies to take a closer psychological and sociological look at conjugal infidelity.
