The Franco-Austrian performance ensemble Superamas will be the central guest at Vooruit festival 2008 with the three performances of their ‘BIG’ series. This will be the first time ever they perform the entire series back-to-back! Though all three performances are based on the same theme, they can also be watched separately.
Superamas criticises present-day superficiality and make fun of consumerism so typical of modern society. They do this by completely and utterly giving into it and by including clichés and kitsch in their performances. The thin plot of their shows usually just serves as a frame for the ingenious and refined.
BIG 2 – show/business (2004) is what they call a “re-live performance”: the audience gets to see a number of scenes that are played in a loop, and so gradually notices more details in the behaviour, the intentions and the patterns on stage as well as in their own.
Superamas will be performing a unique triptych in which modern-day mentality is ruthlessly mocked.
There will be a discovery day for this performance on Saturday the 8th of March.
This performance is in the 5 For Students March Top 5
